警方表示，昨日13時57分，56歲戴姓男子駕駛自小客車行經埔里鎮中山路四段，擦撞同向大型重機後失控撞及護欄，送醫不治。58歲的重機駕駛蔡姓男子及58歲范姓女乘客未受傷，事故原因埔里分局調查中。
